3 Day Quote Challenge: Day 3

Famous Quotes

There are only 2 comics that I’m quite a big fan of. One is Asterix, the other is Calvin & Hobbes 😊. Used to spend a lot of time reading and re-reading the comics. I think my favorite was the Spaceman Spiff alter ego. Haha. And I just adored the relationship Calvin have with his stuffed tiger. Talk about surreal.

A little boy with a great imagination and a lot of big words. Here are some of his funny but memorable quotes:

I’m sure everyone could use a warm fuzzy Hobbes in their lives 😍

3 Day Quote Challenge: Day 2

Famous Quotes…

I love reading Rumi whenever I manage to come across one of his collections. Personally I don’t have any of his books. I prefer to just pick it up at a bookstore and flip open a page to see if the random poem that pops up to me surprises me in any way. It often does.. So no I don’t know all of Rumi’s poems. But I like the ones that I’ve read so far.

For those of you who don’t know Rumi, he is a 13th century Persian and muslim poet. A philosopher, his writings are very spiritual and thus have a universal appeal. If you want to do a bit of soul searching, just grab a Rumi and he will give you hints 😊

These are some of his more famous quotes that I love:

It pulls me…

Poem: The Dance

So once in a really rare moment, I would feel like writing Β a poem. It doesn’t happen often but I thought I better keep it somewhere so I can track it down. Here is one I wrote last month. If you are reading, would love to hear some comments!

I dance and I twirl,

My skirts swirl,

Spinning round and round the room,

My heels ever to the beat,

One step, two step,

Sideways, the next step,

Until I collided,

With something unexpected,

A pair of black shining shoes,

I left and I right,

He right and he left,

All my moves predicted,

I took two step backwards,

But he too stepped forward,

And took me by my hand,

We took one step, two step,

We went sideways and the next step,

And we found our rhythm,

So now we both whirl,

My skirts all aswirl,

As we both spin round and round and round the room…

Birthday Gift

My dear daughter,
I still lie a thousand time,
Every single time,
Someone asks me if I’m fine,
I say I’m great, sublime!

Truth be told, not ever once,
Your thoughts were far from me,
In fact I find myself wishing,
Someday I will be free,

I remember your tiny hands,
Your face like morning dew,
How you smiled and your eyes twinkled,
When I was your favorite muse.

I can’t give you a little doll,
A book, a dress won’t do,
But I can give you my prayers,
And hope that God will pass to you.

Another year has come and gone,
With many more to come,
Happy Birthday my dear Angel,
With lots of love from Mom.

A poem…

I want to share this poem because this is exactly how I feel. And I’m sure many mothers feel when losing their child..

My Mom, she tells a lot of lies,
She never did before.
But from now until she dies,
She’ll tell a whole lot more.

Ask my Mom how she is
And because she can’t explain,
She will tell a little lie
Because she can’t describe the pain.

Ask my Mom how she is,
She’ll say “I’m alright.”
If that’s the truth, then tell me,
why does she cry each night?

Ask my Mom how she is,
She seems to cope so well.
She didn’t have a choice you see,
Nor the strength to yell.

Ask my Mom how she is,
“I’m fine, I’m well, I’m coping.”
For God’s sake Mom, just tell the truth,
Just say your heart is broken.

She’ll love me all her life,
I loved her all of mine.
But if you ask her how she is,
She’ll lie and say she’s fine.

I am Here in Heaven.
I cannot hug from here.
If she lies to you don’t listen,
Hug her and hold her near.

On the day we meet again,
We’ll smile and I’ll be bold.
I’ll say, “You’re lucky to get in here, Mom,
With all the lies you told!”

The End of Night

Today I thought of writing a poem. First thing that came to mind was the dark and peaceful night, full of stars. And so I write, just for the pleasure of writing, of night and day and of the mornings.

Here it comes, o dead of night,

Shrouds of darkness covering the light,

Twirling… circling… enveloping,

Bursting clusters of new born stars,

Shining… glittering… brilliants,

Peace again in the dead of night,

Peace again through the morning light.

28th Birthday

Here it is. Yet another year has gone by and I find myself petrified and rooted at the big 28. I wonder if the feeling will ever get better as age catches on.

They say Capricorns go to a reverse aging process. Now I fully grasp the meaning of it. Very serious as a kid, I spent most of my childhood eager to grow up. Now as a full fledge adult, you realize there was actually no need of any real rush. The most memorable part of your life was when you were growing up!

Granted that obviously the past is history but nevertheless is feeling evermore determined to live a fulfilling life full of goodwill and to make more memorable memories with my every waking moments.

This song I dedicate to all my friends and family near and far, old and new. People which our path have crossed or will cross in this lifetime. To all the good times, bad times, the ups and downs. To the memories that we shared and the memories that we will make. I think this song sums it up:

Time of Your Life- Greenday

Another turning point;
a fork stuck in the road.

Time grabs you by the wrist;
directs you where to go.

So make the best of this test
and don’t ask why.

It’s not a question
but a lesson learned in time.

It’s something unpredictable
but in the end it’s right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

So take the photographs
and still frames in your mind.

Hang it on a shelf
In good health and good time.

Tattoos of memories
and dead skin on trial.

For what it’s worth,
it was worth all the while.

It’s something unpredictable
but in the end it’s right.
I hope you had the time of your life.
